Mardi Himal Trek Overview:

The Mardi Himal Trek is a relatively new and less crowded trekking route in the Annapurna region, offering spectacular Himalayan views and serene landscapes. It provides an incredible alternative to the more popular Annapurna Base Camp trek, with close-up views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli.

Starting from Pokhara, the trek passes through beautiful villages, rhododendron forests, and terraced farmlands. Trekkers experience traditional Gurung culture and stay in cozy tea houses along the trail. The highlight is reaching Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500 meters / 14,764 feet) and the viewpoint at 4,500 meters, which offers panoramic 360-degree Himalayan views including Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre, and Hiunchuli.

The trek also provides an easy-to-moderate trekking experience suitable for beginners with good fitness, making it ideal for trekkers seeking stunning scenery without the crowds. Mardi Himal Trek Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel. Take some time to rest or explore the vibrant city streets, local markets, and cultural landmarks. In the evening, attend a detailed trek briefing where your guide will explain the itinerary, safety precautions, and trekking essentials. This is a great opportunity to clarify questions about gear and acclimatization. Overnight stay at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 2: Kathmandu to Pokhara (Drive)

Today, enjoy a scenic drive of approximately seven hours to Pokhara, passing terraced fields, rivers, and small villages along the way. The road offers panoramic views of the hills and glimpses of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Upon arrival in Pokhara, relax by the serene Phewa Lake and enjoy the mountain reflections. Spend the evening strolling along Lakeside or enjoying local cuisine. Overnight stay at hotel in Pokhara.

Day 3: Pokhara to Kande – Trek to Deurali

Drive to Kande to begin your trek along forested trails and charming villages. The trail gradually ascends through rhododendron and oak forests, offering glimpses of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre. Stop occasionally to rest and admire the scenic mountain vistas. After several hours of trekking, reach Deurali (2,900m) and enjoy your first Himalayan sunset from the trail. Overnight stay at tea house in Deurali.

Day 4: Deurali to Forest Camp

Continue trekking through dense rhododendron, oak, and pine forests along a peaceful trail. The ascent is gradual with occasional viewpoints offering spectacular glimpses of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre. The trail is serene, with opportunities to spot local flora and fauna. Reach Forest Camp (3,200m), surrounded by towering peaks and alpine scenery. Overnight stay at tea house in Forest Camp.

Day 5: Forest Camp to High Camp

Today, the trek becomes steeper as you ascend through alpine terrain. The trail offers panoramic views of the Annapurna range and the iconic Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) Peak. You will pass through rocky ridges, open meadows, and narrow trails with spectacular viewpoints. Arrive at High Camp (4,100m) and rest while preparing for the summit hike the next morning. Overnight stay at tea house in High Camp.

Day 6: High Camp to Mardi Himal Base Camp – Return to High Camp

Start early for the final push to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500m). Enjoy 360-degree panoramic views of Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, Hiunchuli, and the surrounding Himalayan peaks. Spend time at the Base Camp soaking in the alpine scenery and capturing photographs. After a memorable summit experience, descend back to High Camp for overnight stay. Overnight at tea house in High Camp.

Day 7: High Camp to Siding – Trek to Landruk

Begin descending through lush forests, streams, and local villages along scenic trails. Pass waterfalls, terraced farmlands, and charming hamlets as you make your way toward Landruk (1,600m). The descent is gentle and provides opportunities to enjoy the flora, fauna, and riverside scenery. Overnight stay at tea house in Landruk.

Day 8: Landruk to Pokhara (Drive)

Continue descending through the trail to Phedi, where your vehicle awaits. Drive back to Pokhara, enjoying views of valleys, rivers, and terraced hillsides. Spend the afternoon relaxing by Phewa Lake or exploring Lakeside’s shops and cafés. Celebrate the successful completion of the Mardi Himal Trek. Overnight stay at hotel in Pokhara.

Day 9: Pokhara to Kathmandu (Drive)

Drive back to Kathmandu through scenic countryside, passing hills, rivers, and small villages. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy free time to rest, shop for souvenirs, or explore the city’s cultural sites. Reflect on the adventure and Himalayan landscapes you experienced. Overnight stay at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 10: Final Departure

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure. This marks the conclusion of your memorable Mardi Himal Trek.
